Pouchhut publishes guides for adults in New Zealand who use nicotine pouches: how strength labels work, how brands compare, what the law says and what the data shows. This page explains who edits them, where the facts come from and how to tell us when something is wrong.
Who edits our guides
Our guides are edited by Timothy Harper, Pouchhut's editor. Every guide shows the editor's name and the date it was last reviewed.
Where our facts come from
- Law and regulation: the legislation itself on legislation.govt.nz, and published statements from Medsafe and the Ministry of Health.
- Research and statistics: the original survey or report, such as the ITC Youth and Young Adult Survey reported by the University of Otago's Public Health Communication Centre, the New Zealand Health Survey and the ASH Year 10 Snapshot.
- Products: the manufacturer's label on each can: strength, pouches per can and flavour.
- Our own figures: aggregated paid orders, with no customer details. We say how many orders a figure comes from and that it is one retailer's sample, not a national figure.
Each guide lists its sources at the end. Guides are researched and drafted with the help of AI writing tools, then every figure is checked against the source it cites before the guide is published.
What we do not do
- We do not give health or medical advice, and nicotine pouches are not presented as a way to stop smoking.
- We do not compare pouches with cigarettes on health grounds.
- We do not take payment for placement. We sell the brands we write about, and every guide says so.
- We do not publish invented reviews, ratings or testimonials.
Reviews and updates
Guides are reviewed at least every six months, and sooner when the law, our range or our prices change. The "last reviewed" date on each guide changes only when the guide has been checked.
Corrections
If you find an error, email support@pouchhut.co.nz with "Correction" in the subject and a link to the page. We check every report, fix confirmed errors and note the date of the change on the guide.
