Three small calculators for reading a can label: convert between mg per pouch and mg per gram, work out what a can costs per pouch, and compare the labelled strength of 40 products side by side. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is stored or sent.
Strength converter: mg per pouch ↔ mg per gram
Cans state strength in two different ways. Scandinavian brands usually print mg/g (milligrams of nicotine per gram of pouch material). Others print mg per pouch. The two are linked by the weight of one pouch: mg per pouch = mg/g × pouch weight in grams. A slim pouch is typically 0.5–0.8 g, so a "16 mg/g" can is not a 16 mg pouch.
Bands used on this site: Low up to 6 mg per pouch, Medium above 6 and up to 12 mg, Strong above 12 and up to 20 mg, Extra strong above 20 mg. There is no international standard, and brands use these words differently. The figure is the labelled content of the pouch, not the amount a person absorbs.
Cost per pouch calculator
Prices are quoted per can, but cans hold different numbers of pouches (usually 20, sometimes 15, 24 or 25). This compares like with like.
